Petroleum storage tanks — HSD, FO, LDO & solvent
Design and fabrication of above-ground and underground petroleum storage tanks in MS and SS, built to the class of product stored and the PESO distance norms that apply to it.
Bangalore · Serving projects across India
VSS Enterprises designs, fabricates and installs HSD, furnace oil, LDO and solvent storage tanks, pressure vessels, STP/ETP tanks and MS/SS piping — and coordinates the PESO and explosive licences that make them legal to operate.

At a glance
VSS Enterprises is an industrial fabrication company based in Yelahanka, Bangalore, operating a fabrication unit at Subedar Palya, Jarakabande Kaval. Established with over 15 years of engineering experience, the company specialises in petroleum storage tankage, pressure vessels and process piping, and delivers them on a turnkey basis — design, fabrication, site installation, licensing and maintenance.
Its work is concentrated in petroleum-class storage: high speed diesel (HSD), furnace oil (FO), light diesel oil (LDO) and solvents such as solvent 1425, along with STP/ETP tanks, RO plant tanks, air receivers, reactor columns and LPG spheres. The company has executed work for more than 60 industrial clients, including public sector undertakings and multinational manufacturers.

Capabilities
Seven disciplines under one roof — so a single contractor owns the tank, the piping, the licence and the maintenance.
Design and fabrication of above-ground and underground petroleum storage tanks in MS and SS, built to the class of product stored and the PESO distance norms that apply to it.
Complete HSD, FO and solvent storage facilities — tank, bund, piping, pumps, dispensing, instrumentation and commissioning — handed over as a working system.
Fabrication of pressure vessels, air receivers, reactor columns and LPG spheres, with hydrotesting and documentation as per the applicable code.
MS and SS tanks, receivers, bar screens, clarifiers and process tankage for sewage treatment, effluent treatment and reverse osmosis plants.
Fabrication and erection of mild steel and stainless steel piping for fuel, compressed air, hydrant, utility and steam services, including compressor piping and supports.
Petroleum transport tankers, water tankers, industrial chimneys, ducting and structural steel work — fabricated and erected to drawing.
Cleaning, nitrogen purging and hydraulic leak testing of petroleum tanks, with fuel offloaded to a substitute tank and refilled afterwards so operations never stop.
Where we work
Petroleum-class storage and process tankage across manufacturing, energy, IT campuses, hospitality and infrastructure.

HSD storage and distribution for diesel generator sets, boiler houses and captive power, including fuel monitoring and auto-control systems.

Underground and above-ground tankage, tank farms, dispensing systems and licensing for retail outlets, depots and commercial fuel installations.

SS and MS process tanks, solvent storage, reactor columns and distillation units for chemical, pharmaceutical and food processing plants.

Tankage, clarifiers and receivers for sewage and effluent treatment plants and RO systems, supporting regulatory compliance and ZLD targets.

Air receivers, compressor piping and utility distribution systems for plants and commercial buildings.

Diesel storage, hydrant piping and utility tankage for IT campuses, resorts, hotels and large commercial developments.
Compliance
A storage tank that is not licensed is not a working asset. VSS Enterprises fabricates the tank and coordinates the statutory approvals that let you operate it.
In India, storage of petroleum products is regulated by the Petroleum Rules, 2002, and administered by the Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation (PESO). Products are classified by flash point, and the class — together with the quantity stored — decides whether a licence is needed, how the tank must be designed, and what separation distances apply.
| Class | Flash point | Typical products | Licence threshold |
|---|---|---|---|
| A | Below 23 °C | Hexane, toluene, acetone, methanol, solvent 1425, naphtha | ~30 litres |
| B | 23 – 65 °C | HSD (diesel), MTO, aromax | 1,000 L bulk 2,500 L non-bulk |
| C | 65 – 93 °C | Furnace oil (FO), light diesel oil (LDO) | 45,000 L bulk |
Most fabricators will build you a tank. Far fewer will take responsibility for the licence, the distance norms and the inspection that follow. VSS Enterprises handles both, which is why petroleum-class storage — not generic sheet-metal work — is the core of the business. Indicative thresholds above are for guidance only; confirm the applicable requirement for your product, quantity and site with PESO or a licensed consultant.
Why VSS
Product, quantity, class, site constraints and statutory distance norms are assessed before anything is drawn.
Tank and piping design prepared to the applicable code, with the drawings PESO needs for licensing.
Plate cutting, rolling, fit-up and welding at the Yelahanka fabrication unit, with welding transformers up to 400 A.
Erection at your site, complete with piping, pumps, dispensing and structural supports.
Hydrotesting, PESO and explosive licence coordination, local NOC, and commissioning of a working facility.
Ongoing tank cleaning, nitrogen purging and hydraulic testing to keep the facility compliant and reliable.

Questions
Straight answers on storage tanks, licensing and maintenance.
Yes, in most industrial cases. Under the Petroleum Rules, 2002, high speed diesel is a Class B petroleum product. No licence is required only if the total quantity stored does not exceed 1,000 litres in bulk (a tank) or 2,500 litres in non-bulk (drums). Above that threshold a storage licence under the Petroleum Rules, 2002 is required from PESO.
VSS Enterprises fabricates the tank and coordinates the licence application, statutory drawings, testing and local NOC as part of a turnkey scope.
Indian Petroleum Rules classify petroleum by flash point. Class A covers products with a flash point below 23 °C — hexane, toluene, acetone, methanol and solvent 1425. Class B covers 23 °C to 65 °C, which includes HSD (diesel) and MTO. Class C covers 65 °C to 93 °C, including furnace oil and light diesel oil.
The class decides tank design, separation distances, fire protection and the licence threshold that applies to your installation.
Yes. VSS Enterprises coordinates PESO petroleum storage and explosive licence applications — both initial and final — along with the local NOC and statutory documentation. It is delivered as part of the turnkey scope alongside fabrication, piping and commissioning, so you deal with a single contractor from design to licence.
Petroleum storage tanks for HSD, FO, LDO and solvents; MS and SS storage tanks; STP and ETP tanks; RO plant tanks; pressure vessels; air receivers; reactor columns; LPG spheres; petroleum transport tankers; and field distillation units.
The unit also executes MS and SS piping, compressor and utility piping, steam piping, chimneys, ducting and structural steel work.
At least once every three years. If a tank is left uncleaned, water and sludge accumulate and are drawn into the diesel generator during transfer from the main tank, causing injector and fuel-system problems and eventually generator failure.
VSS Enterprises cleans and tests tanks with nitrogen purging and hydraulic leak testing, offloading fuel to a substitute tank and refilling afterwards so operations continue without interruption.
The fabrication unit is at Sy. No. 69/2, Subedar Palya, Jarakabande Kaval, Yelahanka Hobli, Bangalore 560064, Karnataka. Tankage is fabricated at the unit, while site work — piping, tank installation, licensing and structural work — is executed at client locations across India.
